Frequently asked questions

About working in the machine building industry via 100% Vakwerk

What does a mechanical engineer do?

You build, assemble and install machines from technical drawings: mechanical assembly, connecting electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, adjusting and testing. In service functions, you repair and maintain existing machines, sometimes at the customer’s site.

What do you earn in mechanical engineering?

Through us, between €2,800 and €3,500 gross per month at 40 hours, depending on role and experience. Metal workers and toolmakers are at the bottom, while electro and assembly technicians are at the top. Specialist cleanroom work costs up to €4,000.

What training or experience do I need?

Usually an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or electrical engineering, or similar experience. Reading drawings and schematics is essential. Proven experience is often sufficient for entry-level positions such as metalworker or assembly technician.

Is it day shift?

Almost always. Machine construction is carried out by our clients from Monday to Friday in day shifts; some positions are also available in 32 or 36-hour shifts. Service work may occasionally involve traveling.

In which places are the vacancies?

Especially in Venlo, Baarlo, Panningen, Venray, Horst and Beringe. Sometimes a little further afield, like in Sittard. We always look at the travel time from your place of residence.

I don't speak Dutch. Can I apply?

Yes. We speak Polish, German and English, and many of our clients have international teams. Just give us a call in your own language.
